That Gory Cartoon Movie Ending That Stays With Fans
Among every mature cartoon movies I’ve personally watched, nothing has remained with me as much as the terror-laced conclusion of a graphically gory as well as overwhelingly transgressive 2022 movie The Unicorn Wars.
Back in the year 2015, this Spanish writer-director developed a dark, somber and frequently brutal universe that included several minor , forlorn glimmers of hope.
While Unicorn Wars feels like it came from an impulse to advance the medium even more, the director clarified that it was more an attempt to convey a widespread, multicultural message about “the mutual source of each battle.”
This theme is conveyed by means of a group of brightly hued teddy bears , clearly based on a famous series of cuddly characters.
Maturing in a community focused on militarism and the military-industrial complex, numerous these creatures are fixated on exterminating unicorns, due to a holy book which states the bears they previously were rulers of the woodland, until these creatures forced them out.
Some did not entirely accepted the propaganda, , choose to sample narcotics and mate in the woods.
In contrast to their friendly counterparts, these bright beings show genitals , obvious sex drives.
For one particularly cruel, skeptical animal, the bear named Bluey, the battle with the unicorns becomes a route to control — and especially to supremacy over his gentler, kinder brother the character Tubby.
This bear behaves aggressively , an apparent sociopath , and as terror dominates his group and claims his fellow soldiers one by one, he takes increasingly influence for himself, in increasingly violent, destructive ways.
At the same time, the horned creatures are enduring their own terror, through a spreading, deadly beast in their forest.
“In the early stages, it appears as a lighthearted film,” the director stated. “Yet it turns into a more dramatic and sad film. And ultimately, it becomes a terrifying movie.”
The Unicorn Wars commences feeling a bit like one of the most whimsical movies from an iconic animator, which find a mischievous joy in allowing cartoon characters curse, engage in violence, or sex each other up.
Then it evolves into closer to a darker movie from that creator, including ever more explicit brutality , a noticeable connection to the real suffering of conflict.
By the end, it is a complete extreme drama carnage.
The horror that turns the film a perfect Halloween movie kicks in much sooner than indicated.
The Unicorn Wars is one for the devoted fans of gore, for fans of graphic films who desire to view a film they have not watched previously, and are able to withstand a plot that pulls no restraint.
See it with the lights off free from interruptions, and the finale will burrow into your mind and stay with you.
