Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Retains The Club's Backing Following PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot acknowledged that it's expected for doubts to be raised about his position after another heavy defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their 9th defeat in twelve matches, marking the club's poorest run after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a difficult evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I've received a lot of backing from the top,” Slot stated.

“It would be nice to turn it around and get a victory of course but when you're in a managerial role and underperforming then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He added, “I accept my situation. It is not the first time I've found myself in a difficult position but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Club Management

When asked to provide details on his conversations with the team officials, the head coach revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me every single minute of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “Through standard exchanges I perceive the confidence. However I've not talked to them after this match yet so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Problems and Squad Reaction

The manager expressed regret over known failings from his squad in their European loss, specifically missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I’m saying that to everyone,” Jones stated.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don't need to wait to reflect. I’m past getting mad internally. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a phase such as this with outcomes this poor.”

Jones concluded, “But we still have that badge on our shirts. And until that badge is taken away, we will always battle.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad return to where it needs to be, show everyone once more the values of this club and why people call it the best team in the planet.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
