American performer Finn, who was seen in iconic TV shows such as Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has succumbed at 60 years old.
The comedic improv actor passed away at his residence in Los Angeles recently after undergoing treatment for a cancer diagnosis beginning in 2022, as reported by news outlets.
"Pat never met a stranger - solely future friends he had yet to meet," his family shared in a statement.
They added that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with zest and passion".
A Notable Television Career
His debut TV appearance was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he appeared as the titular character's brother.
He was also seen in a regular part on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.
He starred as a party host named Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a social organizer famous for delegating tedious tasks to his guests.
Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, he had guest spots on several popular shows, such as:
- The King of Queens
- Friends
- "That '70s Show"
- House, M.D.
His most famous role for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight seasons of the show from 2011 to 2018.
His cinematic roles include "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.
Off-Screen Life
Away from his acting parts, Finn was an improv performer and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.
He was part of a comedy group of six known as Beer Shark Mice.
"He guided, supported, and advised numerous pupils over the years and it would be difficult to find someone anywhere who has a bad thing to say about him," his relatives stated.
Offering condolences, peer Richard Kind remarked there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Always positive, helping you be funnier and better. An excellent dad and person," he posted publicly.
The actor is leaves behind his spouse Donna, his children, and his family.
