Jurgen Klopp admits a return to manage Liverpool is theoretically possible.
Jurgen Klopp, who stepped down from Liverpool in 2024, remarked that rejoining the club is a possibility. Klopp, post a game-changing near-decade reign which brought Champions League success and ending the club's long wait since 1990, currently occupies roles in a global football capacity for Red Bull and as an advisor for the DFL.
Fan Sentiment and His Frank Comments
Liverpool won England's top flight in the previous campaign, but many fans who revere Klopp would welcome the notion of his potential comeback. In a wide-ranging interview, he shared with the podcast host: “I stated I will never coach another team within the country. Which implies if then it’s Liverpool...yeah. Theoretically it’s possible.”
“Being 58, which suggests I might decide down the line, it's uncertain. Is a decision required immediately? In that case, I'd stay away. Fortunately, it's not necessary. I'll wait and observe how things unfold.”

Questioned regarding which situations would have to unfold to bring him back to management, Klopp admitted he feels no immediate pull to such a return. “I don’t even know exactly, My present work fulfills me,” he said. “I don’t miss coaching; No desire to be during downpours for lengthy sessions; I don’t miss going to press conferences repeatedly each week or doing numerous chats each week.
“I don’t miss the dressing room in that context, however, dining out alongside the squad having a nice chat, that’s nice. With many victories so there was often great spirits at the club. I can still hear the captain's chuckle in my ear to illustrate.”
Praise for His Successor
He commended of the current boss, praising him for the adjustments that won the league last campaign. They've been defeated a string of losses in every contest following significant transfers, though he denied the suggestion that it might signal the start of a downward turn.
“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker like Florian Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if spoken against. An outstanding player. [Hugo] Ekitike, incredible player. It’s a really good well-judged squad. No need for concern regarding the Reds, things will improve.”

He shared movingly regarding the passing of Jota, a player he signed during his tenure, and its impact on Liverpool. The forward died tragically in a vehicle collision with his brother in July.
“Can you substitute a person like him? It’s not about his footballing ability, his personality mattered. I can’t imagine the squad missing him. Putting it into words is tough about it. It was an incredible shock for the entire squad too. No one within the club might employ it as an excuse though it's a fact. Entering the changing area where he was omnipresent. Handling this on a personal level is challenging. Overwhelming.”
