Ex- Physician Charged with Assault Charges Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors report that a ex- physician has been charged with committing assaults against 38 individuals who were patients.
The Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences â including some against children younger than 13 â between 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief CPS official commented, âLegal teams have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.â
Scope of the Investigation
These allegations follow what police called a âdetailed inquiryâ into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
List of Charges
The charging documents said the forty-five charges he is charged with:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
