Week 10 again delivered, with a major surprise for the Bills proving the 'any given Sunday' mantra that draws so many fans into the NFL

This outcome may have opened opportunities for the Patriots to move back into a leading position they formerly held, with a schedule that gives them an edge over their eight and two competitors

Meanwhile in the NFC the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams had perfect results to arrange a major confrontation next week, while our top performer is pursuing milestones as well as the Most Valuable Player award

The Breakdown - Simply an Off Day for the Bills?

Josh Allen in action
Did Josh Allen try too much or could it simply have been a bad day for Buffalo?

Was it just an emotional comedown from defeating Kansas City the previous week or a deeper issue? This remains the question for the Bills to address

The Buffalo squad had won seven in a row against the Dolphins but were second best from the start as the Dolphins emerged as 30-13 winners in an eye-opening result - and display

MVP quarterback Josh Allen only achieved the team's initial first down in the third quarter and first points in the fourth - yes the Dolphins had ten days to get ready but it was nonetheless a significant failure produced by one of the league's best offenses

Dolphins quarterback Tua passed for two scores but rusher Achane was the game-changing factor, with 225 total yards and two scores

Containing the NFL's top running game was crucial too, with James Cook and teammates registering just 86 yards, their lowest of the year and just over fifty percent their 161.5-yard season average

Additionally there were the three critical ball losses, and the pair from Allen specifically. An pass caught by defense in the end zone resulting in a nine-minute possession yielded no points, and his fourth-quarter fumble that the Dolphins converted to seven points just two plays

It was classic 'previous Bills teams' as they shot themselves in the foot, getting into a deficit on defensive side and Josh Allen attempting to do too much to rescue his squad from the situation - rather than the composed, disciplined, well-balanced Buffalo team we've seen this season

Miami have served up a bit of everything this year so the jury's out on whether this is the start of something, but for Buffalo they'll require an instant response in a tough game against Tampa Bay in week 11 as the Patriots are sneaking into a nice lead at the summit of the American Football Conference East

In Focus - New England See Path to Unexpected First Place

Regarding the New England, they're one of three different eight and two teams in the NFL, all American Football Conference teams, but could they be the top team?

You can find flaws in New England, the Broncos and the Colts really for dominating the weaker opponents, with only five of their total 24 wins achieved against teams with a positive record - and one of those was the Indianapolis defeating the Broncos

Denver beat the reigning champion Eagles in Philly and are kings of the final quarter while Indianapolis can rely on Taylor, but the Patriots including Sunday's victory in Tampa Bay to their primtime win in Orchard Park seems like a statement

Their pair of losses occurred in recently appointed coach Vrabel's initial three contests, with seven consecutive wins, similar to Denver, since then - but taking down Baker Mayfield after the Bucs had a bye to get ready was huge

Maye's Most Valuable Player credentials won't go away, and he certainly deserves credit for courage after absorbing some hard tackles in Tampa but persevering to steer his side to success

The defense is reliable and first-year rusher Henderson burst onto the scene on game day with 147 yards and two exciting scores of fifty-five and sixty-nine yards - becoming just the fifth runner to exceed 22 miles per hour this season on his first score

While you can argue who 'the top team' is technically, the Pats should be favourites to end with the best record due to their schedule - which includes just one game against a winning team, although a huge one against the Bills

Traveling to the Ravens is challenging too, but Denver have it even tougher in the AFC West with the Chiefs to play twice, the Chargers (who could also challenge for first place but face the same problem) and also the Packers on the schedule

The Indianapolis also face the Kansas City, and have the Seattle, San Francisco and two matchups with the five and four Jaguars to face. There is a long way to travel but the opportunity is open for a shock top seed in the American Football Conference

Coming Up - Rams & Seahawks Prepare for Next Week Showdown

Both squads with solid claims to be superior to all of the three different eight and two teams are NFC West rivals the Seahawks and Rams, who each scored 40 burgers to reach seven and two before next week's major meeting between the pair in LA

Both have won four in a row, have signal callers in Stafford and Darnold performing at an elite level (although Sam Darnold had turnover issues on Sunday) with excellent pass catchers, and defensive units allowing fewer than twenty points a contest

Each could easily be undefeated as well - especially the Los Angeles as their two defeats occurred in overtime against the San Francisco and then that agonising loss in Philly when they had a potentially winning field goal with the final play deflected and run back by the Eagles for a touchdown

Seattle also lost to the 49ers, with a late touchdown in week one, before losing to the final play of the game against the Tampa Bay - so they're genuinely two of the best sides in the league

The next matchup on Sunday could be the most exciting of the season so far

Player of the Week - Jonathan Taylor
